I think that the southern colonies were bigger than the northern because all the people that lived in Mexico and the Carribean Islands came north and took all the land they found and made seperate colonies that were huge. Up north, Massachusetts took most of the land in the north because that was the first colony in the north.

The southern colonies had more land because the farms took up so much more space. The south was famous for cotton grwoing and they had huge plantations for growing it. The northern colonies had farms, but not as many of the people in the south. Also, the first colonies were started in the south, so they could expand as much as they wanted. Also, the south has much more land to expand to, the north was this little amount of land in between the Atlantic Ocean and the Great Lakes of Michigan. That is why the southern colonies were bigger.

The southern states had more area because of farming reasons. The southern states had better soil for farming, and farming was a big part of everyday life during the 1700s. They also needed more space to grow crops in the lower states because they were better for growing and cultivating crops because of the weather and climate. The southern states had many plantations for growing cotton and tobacco products. The southern states were also were larger because more people traveled to the southern states then the northern states.

I think the reason why the southern colonies had more area then the northern colonies because they had more open space and it wasn’t divided up as much into different colonies. The northern colonies had little space and had fewer colonies. This is why is think the southern colonies had more area then the northern colonies.

I believe the Southern Colonies have many reasons for more land, one reason is that more people in the Southern Colonies discovered land. Second not many people moved to the Southern States but moved up north and was not as congested. Third their was more protestants in the north so pilgrims moved up their tan the south. Fourth their was more religious freedom in the south so many protestants didn’t believe in that and moved up north. Fifth in The North their was more city’s and towns while in the south their was more farms with a lot of land. Sixth since their was more people in the north so their was more buisnessess which made available land smaller.

the southern colonies had more area than the northern colonies. i think that the reason is because they had more room and they weren't all close together like the northern ones were. the southern colonies are also bigger because they needed more room for their crops and farms and stuff.

I think the southern colonies had more area than the northern colonies for many reasons. One of these reasons being that the southern colonies obviously had more farms and plantations so each farm and plantation had to have had a lot of land to work. Also the northern colonies weren’t made up of large farms or plantations, instead it had smaller businesses which didn’t need a lot of land to work therefore this produced smaller towns and cities.

There are many reasons why the Southern Colonies had a bigger area than the North.First of all the soil in the South is very rich which makes it great for growing many crops and farming. Because of this many large plantations and farms were formed. Also, the South is generaly flat so it doesn’t have as many mountains as the North. Mountians make it extremely difficult to have farms and planations.Farming would be extremely difficult. As you can see Farming and geographical location are the main reasons why the south has alarger area than the south!

I think that the colonies with the most area are the most popular colonies so the colonists kept having to expand it. Also, Massachusetts and Virginia have the big area because they were the first two areas to be claimed so the colonists had a lot of land to choose from. The colonies with the smaller area probably not full of a lot of people. The larger colonies probably had a lot of land for crops. The Northern colonies have less area, besides Massachesetts, because maybe the colonists needed less land so they wouldn’t have to travel far from the ocean, which probably where most of the mens job.

I think the Southern Colonies had larger areas for many reasons. For example the south has a lot more land for the colonies to be divided into. Not only that but the south is very large and there are not a lot of colonies out there. I think the southern colonies had a lot more area then the northern ones because they needed the land to grow crops that they planted. Most people who owned land in the south had a farming plantation. In summary the southern colonies had a much greater population.

There are alot of reasons that the southern colonies had more area than the northern. First, the south was more explored and divided than the northern colonies. Secondly, farming was an essential to have during the 1700's. Farmers needed alot of land to have a good harvest every year. Tobacco products needed to be cultivated. Weather also played a part in the southern colonies being bigger because farmers need a place were it would be hot for the crops. These are the reasons why southern colonies were bigger than the ones in the northern part.

The States in the south had larger areas than the states in the north because it had richer soil. It is also has better land for growing crops. They needed the south to grow a high percentage of their food. They needed it because up north the soil isn’t as good as it is down south. Also they chose it because it’s always hot and never snows so it’s perfect. It’s perfect to grow there because if it doesn’t snow at all then they can grow food all year long. By the time the colonials got to the south there populations were in the 100,000 so they needed more food. If they just kept to the north then they would die of starvation in winter. It’s bigger because the bigger the farmland the more crops can be grown.

I think the southern colonies had more area because there was more flat land. In the north it was more mountainy. Also because the first colonie was builat in the south. Also because when the England first settled their the Spanish were in the south. The Spanish are their rivals so they might have tried to take over their land. Also the south might have been better for farming. Since the first towns were built in the south they might have been more powerful. That is why I think the southern colonies had more land.

At this time the Southern colonies had a larger area. I know this because the North was not as explored as the southern part of the east coast. There was more space in the south for farming so they made less colonies. In the north, there was less space so the colonies were more compact. In the North there were a lot of mountains so that made it harder to settle more colonies. That is why the south had more space than the north.
ReplyDeleteRicky
I think the southern colonies had much more space because the north was much more developed than the south. The north had many towns and villages and that took up a lot of space. The south was made up of mostly large plantations. Another reason I think that the southern colonies had more area is because the south was just starting to be developed so when someone settled there they could expand farther than somewhere(like New York) that was already developed.

I think that the southern colonies has more land than the northern colonies because the southern is mainly a farming area. Also, they needed more room for crops so they could sell them or eat them. I also, think the southern colonies have more room because most of the colonies are in the north which leaves them with more room. Finally, I think the southern people had more room because the northern area were mostly like cities and towns.
ReplyDeleteRaymond
The colonies in the south were bigger than the colonies in the north because there ws more room in the south than there were in the north.the spanish were also from Mexico to florida. There were also a lot more people in the south than there were in the north. So the south needed more space. That id why people had a larger area in the south than in the north.
ReplyDeleteRiley
I think that southern colonies were bigger because farms had to take up more land than usaul. Also, the first colony started in the south so they could have as much space as they wanted. The land expension from the southern made the northen not be as big. That is why the southern colonies were bigger.
ReplyDelete-JoE
I think that people liked the south better because it is warmer so they need more land to support the people that live there. People that moved to the south probably moved there because you would be warmer and would probably have more sucsess to a food supply because you live on the water. And if you lived north it is colder and you have less of a chance to get food.

There can be many reasons why the southern colonies had much more area than the northern colonies. I think this because the north population was much larger and the southern had a smaller population which would make the area much larger than its supposed to be. Also, the southern colonies need area to grow crops and everything. Those are a few reasons why the northern colonies had less area tan the southern colonies.
ReplyDelete-Emily
There were more colonies in the south because of cash crops and the south was settled earlier than the north. For example, the colonists did not enjoy doing too much work to make a living so they just sold the crops back to England. Also, the colonists had tobacco in the south which was a very popular and addictive substance for people in the colonies and in Europe. Another reason the south had more settlers is the south was settled first so more colonists thought it would be easier to travel to a place that was already settled than find their own settlement. In conclusion with the help of farming and the convenience of being settled before anyone else in Europe, the colonies in the south had much better conditions to prosper in the colonies.
ReplyDelete-Daisy
I think that southern colonies had so much more area than the northern colonies because the south is a lot flatter land. Also, the south farmed a lot more than the north because the south had better soil. The south had slaves that did a lot of farming and harvesting crops and the north was more business people and factories. Last, is that the north was hard to live in because of the harsh winters and the south was warm all year long so they had time to harvest more. These are examples of why the Southern Colonies had so much more area than the Northern Colonies.
ReplyDeleteWill
I think the reasons for the southern colonies are bigger because they do a lot of framing in the south. The reason that people wanted to plant there is because they have great weather, rich soil and miles of land. People would want to live in the south so they could make money out of their crops. To live down south would be a lot easier then to live up north. Also people would want to live there so they can practice their culture in a big area were people like them live.
